The number of the son is the son of number per square inch in the fabric. Determines the quality and weight of the fabric.

Number of son to the length and width tissue. If there is the same number of son in both directions, the fabric is an A, even weave.Â "tissues with tissue, even easier to work with that make a quilt, because the structure has the same amount of "give in both directions.

Quilting cotton is generally 68 x 68 inches square by son, higher than average tissue. Fabrics with fewer threads, about 60 x 60 per square inch are too light for quilts. They tend to break in excess reducing still be less durable, and will stick to the fabric in your quilt finished.

High number of son and tissue very tight can be hard work, especially when hand quilting. Although it is tempting to use a sheet to the back of a quilt, finish and number of threads that can be very difficult to work with them.

I remember one year I was very happy to find a quality Pima cotton. I bought a bunch of it at all different colors and has a beautiful carpet. It was a kind Amish Ocean Waves. Cut the fabric was a dream. Those were the days before the rotary cutter and I cut fabric with scissors. Sew the fabric into the machine has been wonderful. Basting was great. Then came the stuffing.

Quilting was not pleasant at all. The son was so high that the quilt is almost a nightmare. I tried everything, smaller needles, needles sharper, wholesale, all I could dream. But nothing has any difference. I just gutted Out, and finished it because I liked the feel of the fabric and design of the quilt.

I love the quilt, but wonÂ't Pima Cotton never use again.
