I want to learn how American quilts patch work style?.
I am looking for instruction books outside of the Amazon but I was wondering if there was any Quilters out there that would explain why it has taken and how to get inspiration for quilts again? I am 23 years old and English and I have no one to teach me or talk.
I am 39 and I was quilting for about 4 years. It's something I always wanted to learn (I was an addict of the source material), and finally just small ball and took a class. For me, the class was absolutely worth the money because I could see what was happening and ask questions immediately. We used a book called "Start Quilting with Alex Anderson." Get it on Amazon for about $ 10 – is only a thin book, but it teaches the basics. I machine piece and quilt – if you're interested in reconstruction and hand upholstered, has another book to give quilting. Also I recommend "The Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide" as a reference. No projects, but he has the answer to every question you can imagine. Quilt a / Day Eleanor Burns is another good resource. There are dozens of books and have the most detailed, well illustrated instructions. His book "again Stripping after 25 years "is an excellent choice because the range of quilts, from beginner to intermediate blocks simple more complicated. The Internet is fantastic – just Google "quilt" and click "Images" to see thousands of pictures of quilts. Search for "quilt" in one of the sites online photos as Webshots, Photobucket, Flickster, and dozens of others. There are many magazines out there and have several options International subscription. One of my favorites is the Fons & Porter Love of Quilting. There are many wonderful things available for free on their website. Look at Yahoo Groups – there are many groups who Quilting members of England, Australia, Scotland, and throughout the world. Some Quilters love the process, but are somewhat daunted by the choice of fabrics. I have a file advertisements in magazines with interesting color combinations. Designed such professionals, and I think they know more about color theory that I never will. Other Quilters find a printed fabric and matches other tissues of color printing. Sometimes not even use the print on the finished quilt – Is it just a piece of inspiration.
